When fashion overflows drowning the conservative!

In a fast paced world where attitude and style are deemed to take more precedence over simplicity and “being the way you are”, fashion indeed plays a dominant role. Often we're stuck with scenarios where fashion uncontrollably crosses its threshold and forced itself upon the naive and hidebound. Simply put, gone are the days when wearing bright and vibrant colours along with ‘mix and match’ hues and accessories were considered fancy and eye-catching. In this age and time, irrespective of wether one keeps track of the local political scenario in his city or not, one must surely keep track of the latest fashion trends that are constantly emerging in a globalized society. There can be only two reasons for people to abstain from being a fashionista, in general. Either they are completely traditional and fashion impaired or money-deprived. In the first case, nobody actually chooses to remain unfashionable. It is just that their lifestyle, culture and the way they have been brought up requires them to stay simple and tact. In other words, it requires them to not lose their “individuality”. With respect to the second case, well, my dear folks, there are people out there in this world who consider themselves to be mis-fortunate, just for the simple reason that the hard-earned money of their parents goes into buying canvas school shoes and not ballerina shoes. As ironic as it may sound, subjectively, fashion is what defines a person and makes him distinct from another.

Fashion, these days, may not be necessarily confined to clothing. Elaborate accessories to accentuate fitted clothes and loud make-up too come under its broad spectrum. Newer and refined meanings of fashion compel people to come out of their comfort zone and try something unusual altogether. After all, life is about innovation. In this modern era, ‘dressing up’ has gained much significance than just simply ‘wearing a dress’. Just as every hero in a film makes his own trademark dialogue, it has become essential that every trendsetter in a society sets his own fashion statement. If not for himself, at least for the benefit of millions of people who wish to tread in his fashionable path. That being said, the existence of a potential leader is determined by the number of followers he has. With regard to fashion, nobody can be a leader, for everyone lives as per their own fashion terms. Every person is his own costume designer and make-up artist. Every teenager and adolescent competes to keep himself upbeat of the latest trends and fashions in the market. When one is not wary of the need to adorn gem-studded belts and laced dresses on an everyday basis, he is termed as an outcast. Probably his idea of fashion lies in unveiling simple yet naturalistic clothing attires that don’t take much of his time in the dressing room, rather than upbringing stylized designer wear that he could show to his girlfriends.

People say, ‘Change is the only constant’. Well, wardrobes, trends and fashions may keep changing, but one’s style quotient always remains unique and constant. And that’s what ultimately sets one apart from the rest. In a world where youth fashion icons are more sought after than political leaders and where trends from diverse societies culminate to form a unified fashion brand, the “desire to be desired” and the “craze to look crazy” will always take the better off one’s lifestyle. Nevertheless, the rise of fashion in an embellished society has and will always necessitate one integral aspect- Dignity. That which if lost, destroys fashion altogether!
